The war in Ukraine, unleashed by Russia, has had a devastating effect on all spheres of the economy. Total losses have already exceeded 750 billion dollars. And now, more than ever, the country needs innovative solutions. To quickly respond to these challenges, SET University, in collaboration with Startup Wise Guys and tech2impact, is launching the summer SET Bootcamp. The project aims to develop an innovative economy and entrepreneurship in Ukraine and strengthen Ukraine’s position in the global technological arena.

«Before the start of the war, the Ukrainian technological sector developed rapidly and provided 4% of the country's GDP. Currently, the sector remains one of the few areas that continue to significantly support the Ukrainian economy. The development of innovative solutions and business support are key factors that will speed up the recovery of Ukraine after the victory», —
says Iryna Volnytska, president of SET University.

SET Bootcamp program provides practical skills and covers the main areas of startup development: user research, prototyping, finance, marketing strategy and sales, fundraising and preparing a presentation for investors. Also, the course will be relevant for engineers and students who want to better understand the business side of entrepreneurship.

«The intensive course was created to support the founders of startups and their business teams in launching and scaling technological projects aimed at developing and restoring Ukraine. Participants will work with mentors — Ukrainian and global entrepreneurs and investors», —
explains Serhiy Tokarev, co-founder SET University and Founding Partner Roosh.

Startup evaluation criterions

The key criterion for the selection of startups for the SET Bootcamp is the impact and significance of the product for the recovery of Ukraine in the following areas:

  • security;
  • humanitarian and social support;
  • innovative technologies in the medical field;
  • economic development and solutions to support small and medium-sized businesses;
  • education;
  • infrastructure restoration.

Applications can be submitted by businesses working with any technologies that do not have technical limitations to scaling and that are located in or focused on Ukraine. Projects can be at any stage — from MVP to scaling on the market or attracting investment.

SET Bootcamp will take place online from August 8 to 26. The deadline for submitting applications is July 31. Participants will be selected by SET Bootcamp mentors and organizers in the format of an open competition. To participate, you need to submit an application on the website.

There are no investment rounds within the three-week SET Bootcamp program. However, the organizers will invite investors and venture capital funds to evaluate the business and provide advice on attracting investments.

«Like most people in the world, we at tech2impact asked ourselves: "What can we do to support Ukraine?" Considering our competencies, we decided to support Ukrainian technological startups and projects aimed at the recovery of Ukraine in the format of an accelerator to help with further development and attraction of investments. Therefore, in this year's program, we allocate about 25% of places to startups from Ukraine, and we also guarantee the winner of SET Bootcamp a place in the tech2impact accelerator. I am Ukrainian, and now, more than ever, it is necessary to direct resources to support technological impact startups. I am glad that together with SET University and Startup Wise Guys, we are launching this bootcamp!» —
adds Sasha Lipman, founder of tech2impact.
